Working to support disadvantaged young people or trekking the Inca Trail? why not do both?! Get the best of both worlds with a volunteering experience where you donate your skills and experience, rather than your money. LAFF are looking for volunteers to come and work with us overseas assisting our International Projects Manager and working with our local partners.
The fundraising component of LAFF's work aims to increase funds from Trusts and Foundations, schools and universities in order to financially support LAFF's programmes. Working with LAFFF's communications coordinator, this fundraising focused role maintains and improves LAFF's international and local visibility through innovative strategies and raises awareness about various socioeconomic problems, in particular those affecting young people in Peru, in order to increase local and international funding support. The fundraising strategy consists of identifying fundraising possibilities; writing proposals to trusts, foundations and businesses; and engaging with schools and universities. Focus is also placed on ensuring that all funders receive updated information and appropriate gratitude/recognition for their support.
We are looking for self-assured, motivated self starters who are able to work independently as well as being good team players.
We envision a world where children and young people are equipped with essential skills and are able to access quality education and employment opportunities, to break out of poverty and to build a better future for themselves and their communities. We have been running these projects in Peru since 2010, relying on a team of skilled volunteers based in Cuzco and overseas who share a passion and commitment to our vision.
LAFF works with carefully selected local social enterprises who best understand the complex issues facing young people in Peru and who share our long-term strategic goals. We help these partner organisations to support and empower their beneficiaries, whilst simultaneously working towards self-sufficiency and independence through ongoing training, capacity-building, income generation and cost reduction.
In Peru economic opportunities for young people are still limited. The often prohibitive cost of accessing state education leads to a lack of the skills and competencies required by employers, one of the reasons why they are not able to find employment. Therefore LAFF also provides financial and study support to school children, as well as vocational training to enable them to attend school and to acquire the relevant practical skills that will enable them to build a career for themselves.
LAFF are looking for highly motivated, organised and self-sufficient Spanish speaking volunteers with a genuine desire to contribute towards our mission.
Note: Volunteers are expected to cover all their own costs – including flights, visas and insurance. Applications received after the deadline or not compliant with the instructions above will not be accepted. All successful volunteer applicants must undergo a police check prior to acceptance.
